Hello, I am selling my almost new Newmark 6BB chronograph that is now discontinued! I bought new in March 2019 and it is in excellent condition with no scratches on the metal or the crystal.
I have only worn it a couple of times. All the original packaging is with the watch. From the official site: In 1980, the Royal Air Force issued the Newmark Chronograph to its aircrew.
The Newmark was one of four asymmetrical chronographs of the period and arguably the rarest with just 500 at most being built. Vulcan, Harrier, Sea-King and Tornado crew would count amongst those who relied upon their Newmark. The roots of the Newmark Chronograph date back to 1969 and over the next twelve or thirteen years, four companies, Hamilton, CWC, Newmark and Precista would supply watches to the British Armed Forces. These watches were designed to be rugged, reliable and equally as important - legible. They were the epitome of form follows function, military watches at their purest. In 1983, British Military Chronographs were updated to Seiko quartz models; more reliable without doubt but lacking the vintage feel (and distinctive shape) of the originals which were to become known as 'The Fabulous Four'.For 2019, the Newmark Chronograph is back; a worthy successor to the original, the Newmark 6BB retains vintage charm but combines this with a modern quartz movement - appropriately Seiko.
The Seiko VK64 is a quartz movement with a mechanically actuated chronograph - the engagement and disengagement of the chronograph (although it is quartz) is achieved through the use of levers and cams - just like the old days. The icing on the cake is that the central chronograph seconds hand ticks five times per second - again, like the movements of old.
Given that the VK64 has no constant seconds hand, then there is no outward indication that it is in fact a quartz watch. The 6BB bears an officially issued NATO Stock Number: 6645-99-870-5073 and comes complete with Admiralty Grey NATO.SpecificationCase:316L Stainless Steel with brushed finishNominal diameter 38mm, maximum 41mm (excluding crown)Lug tip to lug tip 46.5mmLug width 20.05mmThickness 12.8mm to top of domed crystalSolid screw down case back with circular brushingRemovable spring barsWater resistant to 50 metresCrown:Stainless steel, non-screw down with 24 teethCrystal:Domed acrylic with polished steel tension ringDial:Velvet black with matt white numeralsHour dots, 12 and 6 numerals and batons Super Luminova C3Hands:Sand blasted steelSuper Luminova C3 fill to hour and minutes handsMovement:Seiko Instruments VK64A Meca Quartz; timekeeping by hours, minutes and 24 hour hands; Chronograph to 60 minutes by central seconds (in 1/5 seconds) and 60 minute counterBattery type SR936SW with 3 year lifePrice is 350 Euro shipped in the EU with tracking.
