Please note that this is NOT a project boat, NOT a re-power, and does NOT need tlc. This is a solid, well-maintained, ready-to-fish, offshore capable boat for under $13,000. The only thing not working is the trailer brakes.
As you?ll find if you do a little research on the forum, this manufacturer in general and this hull in particular enjoy very good reputations. It?s heavily built (yes, with wood) and has a solid, substantial feel you don?t find in a lot of smaller glass boats. Absolutely zero cracking after 14 years.
Ride is exceptional for a boat this size, particularly in a head-sea, provided you tab that big, sharp entry down (tabs are basically mandatory on this hull). Boat also floats nice and high. The transom is open, but I?ve never had any issue with water coming over it, even drifting stern-to in a wide variety of offshore conditions. Water on deck drains quickly and completely?no standing water in the cockpit, even with three adults aft of the console.
You?ll read that this is a better boat with a 200 hp, and I can?t disagree with that. I?ve run it with both a 200 and a 150, and I wish had the 200. That said, it performs just fine with the 150. This particular one tops out around 38 mph on flat water with two adults and a half-tank of fuel, give or take. She cruises very comfortably at 28 mph and 4,000 rpm--which is really about as fast as you want or need to go offshore in a 21-footer.
In terms of condition, the boat is 14 years old, and it doesn?t look new. The vinyl is discolored in places, there are a few scratches in the boot stripe, and the engine cowling is pretty badly faded because the cover doesn?t include it. That said, she?s in quite good shape for a 14-year-old boat that has seen her share of use, and all systems function well. Bottom-line, you?ll be hard-pressed to find this much offshore capability for the money.
